Union Property Services has converted 250 St Vincent Street, a Category B listed former office building in the heart of Glasgow, into purpose-built student accommodation. The scheme provides 140 self-contained studios for up to 142 students, each with an en-suite shower room, kitchenette, dining area and dedicated study space.
The lower floors have been reconfigured as shared amenity space, including a staffed reception, study and meeting rooms, a resident lounge, gym, laundry, parcel room and bookable kitchen, dining and games areas.
External works included repair of the natural stone façade, renewal of the roof, upgraded rainwater goods and drainage, and conservation of the building’s architectural detail. By retaining the existing structure, the scheme avoided the embodied carbon of demolition and new build while bringing a vacant listed building back into use.
Clark Contracts was Principal Contractor, with practical completion achieved in July 2026, ready for the 2026/27 academic year. The building is within walking distance of the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow Caledonian University and the city centre.
